Bridge between science and practice

Knowledge and technology transfer is a central task of the university and combines scientific expertise with social and economic requirements. Our aim is to transfer research findings into practice, promote innovative solutions and strengthen the exchange between science, business and society.

The  Technology Transfer Office (TIM; only in German) is a joint institution of Osnabrück University and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. It is responsible for knowledge and technology transfer at Osnabrück's universities and thus makes a significant contribution to strengthening the regional economy and innovative power.

The TIM sees itself as a mediator, interpreter and catalyst between science and society. Personal and confidential advice in all matters relating to knowledge and technology transfer is a central concern.

The application phase for funded participation in the SLUSH conference on November 19-20, 2025, in Helsinki is now open.

Funding is available for 15 start-ups from Lower Saxony on behalf of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digitalization, in cooperation with hannoverimpuls GmbH.

Project funding (material resources/auxiliary staff) is possible in the following three transfer fields:

  • Research-based cooperation and utilization (e.g. participation in or implementation of events, workshops)

  • Transfer-oriented teaching and further education (e.g. design thinking/rapid prototyping workshops for the utilization of final theses)

  • Scientific dialog (e.g. content creation (podcasts), science slams, school partnerships)

Eligible to apply: Scientists and employees in science-supporting institutions

Availability of funds: Limited until June 30, 2026
